Vancouver indie tabletop developer Bravely Told Games will join Indie Megabooth at one of the premiere gaming conventions in the world, PAX West 2017 in Seattle, on September 1st-4th. The company will showcase their first published game, “Cult Following: The One True Game”.
PAX West is one of the largest conventions in North America, specializing in games and gaming culture. Over 70,000 people attend the convention each year. Indie Megabooth is a group that brings together independent game developers and allows them to collectively showcase their smaller ‘indie’ games in the same convention halls as AAA multi-billion dollar companies like Nintendo, Electronic Arts, Microsoft, and Sony. “Cult Following” was one of only 17 tabletop games selected for this event.
“Being part of the Indie Megabooth is an incredible opportunity for us to share our game with thousands of people from all across the world. It is the biggest possible thing that could have happened to our company, which started out in my basement just two years ago. We are beyond thrilled to be a part of it!”
Cult Following is a creative storytelling game where you convince your friends that the eternal truth that you just made up should command devotion, while arguing that the other players’ fanatical ravings are just plain ridiculous. Cultists use three ideas from the deck (e.g. “Monsters under the bed”, “People are food”, and “Bears”) to create and pitch a ridiculous cult. Recruits ask questions from the deck (e.g. “Why do people wrongly assume your cult is dangerous?”) to find out which cult is right for them. As debate, escalation, and heckling ensue, the players’ stories blend together into a unique and memorable experience. Reviewers have described the game as “fantastic”, “really really good”, “straight up fun”, and “a real laugh and a good time”.
Bravely Told Games is a Vancouver based tabletop gaming company formed in 2015 by Tom Bauslaugh and Trevor Bradley. Tom and Trevor met in University over 25 years ago and have been playing games ever since.
